Callas - Paris, 1958

Concerts don't come much more special than this. A special concert to celebrate the 100th anniversary of her birth.
The film depicts Callas’ Paris debut and legendary performance at the Paris Opéra on Dec. 19, 1958. Her one-night-only concert was attended by French President Coty, Jean Cocteau, the Duke & Duchess of Windsor, Charlie Chaplin, Brigitte Bardot, and many more. Callas opened with her signature role, Norma’s “Casta diva,” followed by  the “Miserere” scene from Verdi’s “Il Trovatore,” and “Una voce poco fa” from “Il Barbiere di Siviglia.” Callas’ performance concluded with a fully staged performance of “Tosca,” Act II.

“Callas – Paris, 1958” is restored from the original reels, put into color with 4K resolution, and includes Dolby Atmos surround sound carefully mixed by Miraval Studios. It is directed and produced by Tom Volfand Samuel Francois-Steininger, the same team behind the award-winning documentary,“ Maria By Callas”(2017).
