The Importance of Being Earnest

Show Dates: 7th – 9th March 2024
Price: £15

Off Centre Theatre’s latest production is described by the author as ‘a trivial comedy for serious people’, The Importance of Being Earnest is Oscar Wilde at his wickedly witty finest.

A chaotic romp through Victorian snobbery and pretensions, the play resolutely refuses to take anything seriously except cucumber sandwiches – and, of course, the infamous Handbag.

An evening of secrets, trickery and true love

Count Arthur Strong..and it’s goodnight from him!

Show Date: Wednesday – March 13, 2024 – 8:00 pm
Price: £22

Part one of Count Arthur Strong’s farewell tour. Of the World. Potentially. (Certainly Jersey).

Having consulted with top Harley Street specialists, the St Anne’s Jombulance Brigade and Professor Twitty, that did covid, (the bald one), Count Arthur Strong has decided to gradually phase in his farewell tour over a, yet to be specified number of parts, because of the likelihood of people doing ‘Cold Turkey’ in theatres over him.

Whilst partial, himself to the odd bit of cold turkey, it is banned in most theatre auditoriums, apart from in the north east, because of it getting trodden in to the carpets etc, and the cumulative smell. The management would appreciate your co-operation in this matter.

Join Arthur for this never to be forgotten start to his farewell tour in…

‘And It’s Goodnight From Him!’

But Memory was thus clearly regarded by the ancient Greeks as the mother of the arts, wellspring of inspiration, the compost in which imagination takes rooty. ABC – An Intimate Evening With Martin Fry

Show Date: Saturday – November 16th 2024 – 7:30 pm
Price: £82.50 Meet and Greet £50 VIP £33 Standard

A Look At Life And A Look Of Live

The hits earned their place in pop history. From Poison Arrow to The Look Of Love, from All Of My Heart, and Be Near Me, to When Smokey Sings, ABC were the band that redefined glamour and cool. Led by the charismatic Martin Fry, they enjoyed TransAtlantic success as The Lexicon of Love proved as artful as a Warhol silkscreen, and glossier than Marilyn’s lipstick. ABC’s The Lexicon of Love was a brilliantly distinctive debut album, fizzing with bright ideas, and unapologetically flamboyant. Frontman Martin Fry harked back to a golden era of luxe, as though Cole Porter had been re-imagined among the narrow streets of Sheffield. Little wonder his sleek, opulent, and beautiful debut retains the affection of listeners four decades on. With good reason, it has stood the test of time. And so has Martin Fry, who will bring an evening of stripped-back music and conversation to UK theatres in celebration. His intimate tour follows a sold-out tour of the UK, which included three  sell out nights at London Palladium, and coincides with the publication of his autobiography. That’s the look, that’s the look… The Look of love.

Steve Harley: Come up and see me

Show Date: Thursday 1st May
Price: £28

A prodigious kid who grew up on the poetry of Eliot and Lawrence, the prose of Steinbeck, Woolf, and Hemingway, and the music of Bob Dylan, Steve Harley soon realised his life would be preoccupied with words and music.

He met The Rolling Stones as a kid, and the die was cast. After working as a newspaper reporter, he switched to rock’n’roll, enjoying huge success with Cockney Rebel and such hits as Sebastian and the iconic Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me).

Acting off-Broadway and in London, he recorded the title track of The Phantom Of The Opera with Sarah Brightman, while also finding time to write for Rod Stewart, among others, before playing Glastonbury Festival three times, the Isle of Wight festival and receiving numerous awards. And now, it’s time to reflect.

Come Up And See Me… And Other Stories, will feature music and stories, as Steve tells stories about his career, while playing acoustic versions of the biggest hits. Steve will be accompanied by long standing band member Barry Wickens
